Seven Years Stronger Together: Celebrating the Infinity Health Green Square Community

Seven years is more than a milestone. It represents thousands of conversations, appointments, health concerns, achievements, community connections and relationships that have shaped Infinity Health Green Square into what it is today.

Since opening in September 2019, Infinity Health has continued to grow alongside the Green Square, Zetland and surrounding communities. What began as a medical centre has developed into a place where primary care, allied health, preventative healthcare and community involvement come together around one central purpose: supporting people through every stage of their health journey.

As we mark our seventh anniversary, we want to take the opportunity to reflect on how far we have come, recognise the people and partnerships that have been part of that journey, and look ahead to what remains most important — providing accessible, compassionate and comprehensive healthcare for our community.

Building a Medical Home Around People

Healthcare can sometimes feel fragmented. Patients may see different doctors, specialists and allied health professionals, often in different locations, at different times, with each addressing only one part of a much bigger picture.

That experience helped shape the philosophy behind Infinity Health.

For Medical Director Dr Siva, the idea of continuity and connected care is personal. Infinity Health Green Square has been his medical home since June 2022, and he describes the clinic’s development as being driven by a desire to put patients’ needs at the centre of care.

Reflecting on his experience, Dr Siva shared that both he and Shirley had seen the impact fragmented healthcare could have on families. Their shared experiences helped strengthen the clinic’s commitment to what he describes as “health care from the heart.”

That philosophy goes beyond treating an illness when it appears. It means listening to patients, creating an environment where people feel comfortable raising concerns, and helping patients navigate their health over time rather than treating each visit as an isolated appointment.

It also means recognising that good health does not sit within a single category. Physical health, mental wellbeing, preventative care, recovery, family health and long-term management can all be connected.

Over the years, this approach has continued to shape the way Infinity Health delivers care.

Seven Years of Growing With Our Community

The Green Square community has changed significantly over the past several years, and Infinity Health has continued to evolve with it.

Families have grown. Students have arrived from around Australia and overseas. More people are thinking proactively about their health. Patients increasingly want care that is convenient, coordinated and easier to access.

For Infinity Health, responding to these needs has meant continuing to look beyond traditional general practice.

The clinic’s focus includes preventative healthcare and early intervention, chronic disease management, mental wellbeing, allied health support, after-hours care and access to onsite pathology. The aim is to make it easier for patients to receive different areas of care in one convenient location while maintaining continuity with the healthcare professionals supporting them.

This broader approach is reflected in the idea behind Care That Works Together.

A GP may be the starting point of a patient’s health journey, but sometimes the right support involves more than one healthcare professional. Depending on a patient’s individual needs and eligibility, that may include physiotherapy, psychology, dietetics, pathology or other services working alongside primary care.

It is not simply about having different services available. It is about helping those services work together around the patient.

Looking Beyond the Clinic

Some of the most meaningful moments from the past seven years have happened outside a consultation room.

Community has always been an important part of Infinity Health’s story.

The clinic has worked with organisations including Taylor’s College, UNSW ICON and student health programs to support the wellbeing of local students. These relationships recognise that healthcare also involves education, early support and giving younger people access to information and services that can help them make informed decisions about their health.

Infinity Health has also supported active lifestyles and sporting communities. That connection extends beyond encouraging people to exercise. Staying active can involve injury management, physiotherapy and recovery, nutrition, and maintaining both physical and mental wellbeing.

Community health initiatives have provided another important avenue for engagement.

Heart Health Week, R U OK? Day and cancer awareness activities have created opportunities to start conversations about health before someone necessarily walks into a consultation room with a problem.

These activities may look different from one another, but they share the same principle: healthcare works best when people feel informed, supported and comfortable asking questions.

Recognition Along the Journey

In 2024, Infinity Health was recognised through the Primary Health Awards for its commitment to quality care, innovation and community impact.

For the team, recognition like this is meaningful not simply because of the award itself, but because of what it represents.

It reflects the work of doctors, nurses, reception staff, allied health professionals and everyone involved in supporting patients each day. It also reflects the trust that patients place in the clinic when they choose Infinity Health as part of their healthcare journey.

Dr Siva described the recognition for Excellence in General Practice as a testament to both the clinical expertise and hospitality of the clinic. He also emphasised Infinity Health’s commitment to welcoming people of all backgrounds, genders and nationalities.

That sense of welcome remains an important part of the culture the team wants patients to experience.

Healthcare From the Heart

A seventh anniversary naturally encourages us to look backwards, but it also provides an opportunity to ask what should remain unchanged as the clinic moves forward.

For Infinity Health, one of those things is the importance of relationships.

A medical centre can invest in services, technology and facilities, but patients often remember something more human: whether somebody listened, whether they felt comfortable asking a question, whether their concerns were taken seriously, and whether they felt supported when they needed help.

Dr Siva describes Infinity Health as another home to come to. That sense of familiarity, continuity and trust is something the clinic hopes patients experience too.

It is particularly important when healthcare becomes complicated.

A parent worried about their child does not necessarily want to navigate multiple disconnected services. Someone experiencing mental health concerns may need time, trust and continuity before they are comfortable talking openly. A patient managing a chronic condition may need ongoing support rather than one appointment.

These are the moments where continuity matters.

Looking Ahead

Seven years on, Infinity Health’s commitment remains centred on accessible, high-quality primary care, preventative health and early intervention, expanded services and after-hours care, onsite pathology and strong community partnerships.

As the Green Square community continues to grow and change, Infinity Health will continue to evolve with it.

That means listening to what patients need, strengthening the connections between primary and allied healthcare, supporting preventative health, and continuing to participate in the community beyond the clinic itself.

There will always be new challenges in healthcare. But the principles that have guided the clinic through its first seven years remain simple: listen, engage, care and work together.
