Immunisation

There is a lot of information and discussion surrounding immunisation, but all the data shows us that immunisation saves lives.

The National Immunisation Program (NIP) schedule is a series of immunisations given at specific times in life ranging from birth to adulthood. All immunisation vaccines used in the NIP are free and eligibility is linked to Medicare benefits eligibility.

Some of the diseases covered by the NIP schedule include Hepatitis A and B, Diptheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chickenpox, Pneumococcal, Meningococcal and Influenza.

  • Immunisations use your body’s immune systems to provide protection to you and your children and have been proven to be the best way to protect you, your children, and future generations from infectious disease.
  • At Infinity Health Medical Centre we value informed patient decisions, and our priority is to ensure we educate and inform parents and patients of the benefits and risks associated with immunisations and the decision not to immunise.
Children Immunisations
  • At Infinity Health Green Square, we provide our parents with information and options that are more than the blue book. Our doctors and nurses will provide you with education and risks for immunisations or non-immunisation of your children.

Adult Immunisations
  • Once an adult reaches a certain age, they are at an increased risk of contracting pneumococcal disease and influenza. These diseases can have a great impact on your health and wellbeing, and have even proven to be fatal for certain at risk groups such as those over 65 years, or over 50 with a chronic illness.
  • At your consultation, your doctor can assess your health and provide you with education surrounding the immunisation and the associated risks allowing you to make an informed decision regarding vaccination against diseases.
Travel Vaccinations
  • If you are going on an overseas trip, travel vaccinations should be part of your trip planning. The right vaccinations will help you and your family prevent the contraction of diseases that are not in our country, or have been eliminated or reduced in Australia but are still prevalent in other countries
  • Our practice offers a variety of immunisations. Depending on where you are travelling to, you may require a course of immunisations that span up to 8 weeks before your departure. Its therefore important that you plan ahead and speak with your doctor about what vaccinations you may require and make a schedule. It’s also a great opportunity to have a health check with your doctor before you go.
