Studying abroad in Australia requires a valid visa and a health insurance.

Health insurance options are available for International Students currently studying in Australia under the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).

What Is Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)?

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is a health insurance policy designed for international students in Australia. It provides coverage for medical expenses, hospitalisation, and other healthcare services during their stay in Australia, complying with their visa requirements. Further, OSHC includes ambulance services and limited pharmaceutical coverage.

As the OSHC is a visa requirement, it’s essential to ensure that your coverage remains in place continuously. If you’re late in making payments or renewing your policy, it could impact your ability to get help for any medical services.

If your visa status or Medicare eligibility change at any time, always advise your insurer to assess whether your current level of coverage is still appropriate. When your student visa expires, you are no longer eligible to maintain your OSHC insurance.

For international students, we offer on-the-spot claim processing through our HICAPS machine, which works with most health insurance providers. This allows students to settle their claims immediately after their consultation without any hassle.
